Letters on the right side of the standard keyboard Numeric keypad

Frustrated with why the right side of the alpha keys are set to numbers when you're not holding down the fn key. For real!? To enter a sentence, you need to follow the letters that have a numeric keypad and press the Fn + Alpha key. It is no longer convenient and the price was not cheap. I'd rather pull out a full-size keyboard than deal with this cumbersome key layout.
