I'll enumerate the reasons why this is inappropriate for your situation: The part that goes around the thumb is slightly wider than your thumb. She is 17 years old and normal height. The Velcro that wraps around the wrist is 2 inches wide. And very sharp corners. The part that should cover the base of the thumb on the palm is very narrow. All of this is very hard and very cheap.
