Good adapter, but problem with power supply from storage devices.

This is well designed and allows access to storage devices to move files using the file manager on my iPad Pro. The problem I have with this device is that when I turn on the adapter, the storage device is disabled in the file manager. All, although the iPad shows charging with the power supply connected to the adapter. I've tried this with various storage devices and it happens on all of them when the adapter is powered.
