Review on Parker Variant Adjustable Safety Razor - Customize Shave Intensity with Dial Turner & 5 Premium Blades (Graphite) by Rhonda Babson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Cheap material/workmanship - fell apart after 40 shaves - finger off.

Original review from 2017 entitled "It was good to go back to old tech", see description below. This is my first safety razor in about four decades. It was good to go back to the old technology. The Parker Variant is a good razor - solid construction and an effective blade exposure control system. I had my doubts when I saw that opening and adjusting the razor relies on the same mechanism, but it works (provided you line up the part correctly with the base - the notched part on the same part - as instructed in the instructions) . Insert the blade - align it properly and pull it all the way down and you're on level 1 - very smooth and easy to use - if you can shave with a multi-blade disposable razor, you can to shave with a parker. You get a smooth, close shave with the same or less skin irritation, you spend less on blades and you don't end up with plastic in landfill. Update (March 2019) I have had this shaver for less than 2 years. For about a year and a half I grew a beard and shaved twice a week. This razor was used a total of 40 times. And it just fell apart. Cheap soft metal combined with poor design and build quality. I can't believe they want $58 for this. I complained and Revain was kind enough to get my money back - they really need to stop selling it. My dad had a similar razor all his life - and he used it every day - with no problems.

Pros
  • Nice build
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was
