I used this lantern as a music stand a few days after it arrived at the concert (that's what I bought it for). It already had a sizable charge, but I plugged it in before the performance to make sure it was fully charged. Four hour gig and it was still light at the end of the show (on the brighter of the two settings). I appreciate the fact that I don't have to remove the batteries from the unit to charge them like I had to with previous LED music stand lights I've had, I just plug in the USB cable. I also like the fact that the entire unit folds into a very small, easy to transport and lightweight package (which makes it easy to pack in my carry-on when I go on tour (several venues I've played at have had poor results) or very bulky old-fashioned music stand lamps, and at least one didn't have any at all.) light enough to attach a sheet music case without it falling off. doesn't have a fixed slot for each setting (high, low and off) the good thing is the switch doesn't accidentally turn on (it's a slide switch) like I've had with my other two LED lights while keeping them in my bag been used, which drained all the batteries before the concert.
