I'm a guy who only decided to let his hair out in the last 3 years so I don't have that many experience like some. My wife also has thick, very curly hair. We used to buy cheap hair ties because I'm cheap. Once in a while. I'm glad I decided to try these. I got tired of the tie stretching to the point where I didn't want to use it anymore, or just ripped for a short time - usually within a few days, sometimes a week when it was one of the best I think . My wife generally goes through them much quicker than I do. The one I'm wearing right now is one of the L. Erickson Grab & Go holders and I've been using it since I ordered it in early May so it's been around 2 months. At this point the grip is still good, although it's finally starting to stretch a bit. These things are pretty hair-friendly it seems, at least at first. Now that it's finally worn out it's started to drag a little but after seeing it being used for 2 months I can't complain. I don't want to spend $4 or more on a headband, that would be a good middle ground. I would buy them again.
