I bought this for my 11.5 year old son, size 14/16. He loves the water but hates putting on sunscreen. The shirt is a little loose, but comfortable. The sleeves are long and cover his arms a bit, but he can wear this for at least another two years if he doesn't gain that much weight. LOLI recommends size 14/16 for 11-12 year olds who are 53 inches tall and have an average build. If your child is a bit chubby or muscular, consider increasing the size. Hope this review helps!
