These headphones sound great and I loved them for the first month

These headphones sound great and I loved them for the first month. Unfortunately they broke after a little over 3 weeks. The volume control failed first; I could live without it, but when it fell apart, one of the headphones stopped working. Do you think it was fake? B/c I have other Koss headphones that lasted a year. Damn.
