Leave the bolts loose and tighten a little at a time.
First chair takes a while to assemble. After that it goes pretty fast. Leave the bolts loose until the cross bars are installed helps a bunch. Like the color of the grey pleather I purchased. They seem to be very sturdy and are pretty comfy too. Happy with my purchase so far.
