if you have regular electronics. in my case I have a Linksys Wireless-N router (WRT610N v2). which gets too hot and could either damage your furniture or behave erratically when overheated. you need it. Perfect fit for my router. If your device has an unused USB port, you can power it directly from the device as it is USB powered. If you don't have one, you can use any "mini-USB" charging adapter (I use one of my spare Motorola mini-USB chargers that came with the bluetooth headset) and it works fine. This is essentially what keeps my (poorly designed, terrible thermal management!) Linksys device running. I've seen my connection drop on a regular basis and I've found this to be a common complaint among owners of these devices. I also found out that someone else had determined that the "Canadian" version was perfect for this router and would fit perfectly under it. Well the only difference I see between the US and Canada versions is the color. and I like the black US version better anyway! (EDIT: One note: This device doesn't use an actual mini-USB connector, which you probably assumed from what I wrote above. The cable that comes with it is "proprietary" in that it's a small coaxial connector, not USB connector, but it's at the end of the USB cable, so I cut off the USB connector on the aforementioned charger and soldered the matching connector (obtained from Digikey) to the end of the cable. Just wanted to clarify!)
