Review on HDMI Dummy Plug Fit-Headless Display Emulator DDC EDID Headless Ghos With Windows Mac OSX Linux Great For Graphics Acceleration Support 1920X1080@60Hz 2P by Corey Burgess

Works as described to add a virtual monitor to my headless pc

I have NVR software running on a Windows PC that can use hardware decoding to speed up AI processing of motion-activated objects. The problem was that even though I indicated that the security camera was using hardware decoding, the syslog reported that the GPU did not exist. The hardware is physically present, but since there was no monitor connected, Windows didn't confirm that the GPU was available for use. After adding this DisplayPort emulator, hardware decoding now works properly at the resolution my graphics card supports, which is 1920 x 1080. I also have this one for HDMI, which also works great: https://www.amazon.com/ gp/product/B07CXZX8BQ Even though it supports 4K output, don't expect to be able to display 4K resolution via remote control. if your graphics card does not support 4K.

Pros
  • using it along with a steam link to stream games to my tv. Many games default to sub-1080p resolutions when there is no monitor present. Connect this and Steam Link can stream in full 1080p.
Cons
  • No automatically
