I took them to keep in the car as an emergency marker in case we ever get stuck on the road (due to lack of fuel or mechanical problems) in the dark. In the automotive environment, zinc-carbon and alkaline batteries just don't last long, especially AAA and AA batteries. They leak and fail just when you need them. Lithium primary batteries like the 123A are much more reliable over the long term. They typically have a shelf life of 10 years, while AA batteries stored in a hot car won't last more than a year in my experience. Please note if the user is easily confused then this and other similar error displays with a single almost hidden switch display is probably not for you. Good: It has a built-in magnet that allows you to easily attach the flashlight to your car where you need to mount it for good visibility. Bright blinking LEDs in multiple circuits. Battery life and reliability (can be replaced). Waterproof. Needs work: The off/on/mode switch location is poorly marked. It would be hard to find in near total darkness. (I used a "magic marker" to make the switch location more obvious. I would have preferred a separate ON/OFF switch and a separate flash mode switch. I'd happily pay a few bucks more for that.
