Works with very careful handling and weighs no more than 200#. It has small grooves at the top of the sides that prevent the sides from collapsing when weight is applied. They can easily be bent or broken, making the step unsafe. I used this camping to satisfy my need for a step to access things in my small pickup truck's roof rack. Although not used, it was a pretty good sitting chair. There were visitors in the camp and some people naturally sat on this stool. Maybe someone moved a little to talk to someone from behind or something and turned the stool. I don't know exactly, but the tongues flexed and when I stepped on them again, they collapsed. It really isn't secure unless you're very careful and don't let anyone sit on it who isn't fully aware of the vulnerabilities.
