The Capture Genie is the perfect little video tracking device if you don't have or need a cameraman. The device has a sleek (almost Apple) look, is heavy enough to hold your iPhone or Android phone, and comes with a charging cable - you'll need a power bank or USB port to plug it in. It needs to be charged once opened, but it charges fairly quickly, so it's a plus if you have a lot of shoots and can't afford long downtimes. Once charged you can place your device in the Capture Genie Holder which is durable yet gentle on your phone and has plenty of room to protect devices of varying thicknesses in both landscape and portrait modes - a plus! I'm not sure you can stick an iPad in and get it working. I have to study that more closely. Before use, you need to download the included app, which you can easily access by scanning the QR code on the included quick start booklet. From there, it's basically plug and play: turn on Bluetooth on your device, turn on Capture Genie, and open the app on your phone. Let the shooting begin. It works as described. It can even work to track you while you're shooting live! The only reason I only gave four stars is because I suspect I'll have to spend a lot of time learning the ins and outs of the app to get the best and most out of it. It would be nice to have more written information about how the application works. I will need some time to study this. If you want to learn how to get the most out of it, I recommend this video product for your subject tracking needs.
