Review on 🐱 K&H Pet Products Thermo-Kitty Heated Cat Bed in Mocha/Tan - Choose Your Perfect Size! by Laura Bates

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Use with extreme caution: not for larger or heavier pets.

My 14 year old black cat with arthritis was so excited when she climbed into this bed and seemed to love the warmth of the surroundings so they don't leave it wanted the bed for anything but food. See the attached photo for his first reaction. Until he got a really nasty electric shock on New Year's Eve. I am returning the bed (after a thorough wash) as defective and am writing this review at the urging of our treating veterinarian. My cat has 2 severe contact burns and shock. He's not fat by any means, but he's a big boy weighing 15 pounds. I took a close look at the heating pad and can't see any obvious defect, but I won't risk it. Signs of electrocution - unexplained urination and/or bowel movements; two characteristic electrical burns; Lethargy; signs of pain or distress; increased salivation; irritation at the point of contact; Cough; difficulty breathing; Cramps; collapse or unconsciousness. If your pet is over 12 pounds I would strongly advise against purchasing such a heated bed. Even better? Talk to your vet first and get suggestions of products they would recommend. I thought I did an excellent and thorough job finding the right bed for our sweet old man. Apparently not. I would like to reiterate that while I have not seen any obvious signs of a defect in the heating pad, I cannot rule it out either. Please treat this review as it intended: Treat pet heatbeds with care. If you have any concerns, especially if your pet is overweight, talk to your veterinarian first. Please. The last thing any animal lover wants is an injured or dead furry friend and a cool vet bill like we have to pay right now. You are not fully healed yet. Our vet is very concerned about the nerve damage as my cat's head and neck kept twitching for days after almost being electrocuted. He also had profuse sneezing fits, although he never had allergies or colds. This bed cost us hundreds of dollars now approaching thousands. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS BED.

Pros
