I bought this cable and tried to use it to connect my old Sony Handycam HDR-HC7 camera to a late 2011 MacBook Pro but it didn't work at all. The MacBook could not detect the camera device when FireWire was connected, nor would it properly shut down or start up when the cable was connected (it froze until the cable was unplugged!). I sent the Revain cable back and decided to try again with a different manufacturer's cable and everything worked as soon as I connected a different cable! So. DO NOT BUY THIS CABLE!
