I have had variations of this case for years and can confirm that they hold up well, protect your device from minor drops and most importantly provide a tactile grip that doesn't hold the device falls out of a shirt pocket or slips out of your hand. To be clear, it doesn't do anything directly to protect your screen, but as long as you don't smack something hard directly on the screen, it does the job. I have an iPod touch that has lasted almost 8 years with no damage from any of them. However, if you are protecting a device for a child, you may need something more powerful.
