At first I was a little confused about the need to attach a magnet to the back of the phone case, but the magnet is very thin and barely noticeable once attached - especially since I don't hold the case by it all the time (I wouldn't want to stick it on the back of my phone anyway). The second part of this device is the holder itself. It's relatively small and, despite being made of plastic, is surprisingly durable. So you don't have to use glue to stick this piece to your dashboard, it has a suction cup that works very well (but this suction cup doesn't work on my leather dashboard). Otherwise it works like most car phone holders. You put your phone in when you go in, take it off when you go out, use it for cards, etc. But the cool thing is that thanks to a magnet, putting it on and taking it off is extremely easy, rather than the need for anything to snap, place or block. I've been using it for a few weeks now and love it, but I think I should point out to other people that the magnet is NOT strong enough to hold the phone in place. The reason this works for me is because my phone rests on the dash and the mount basically just holds it in place - that's what the magnet does. But the magnet will NOT hold the phone by itself. An important note for people who want to use it this way. I'm wondering as another reviewer pointed out what to do when changing phones or cases as the magnets will stick to the existing case. I think they can be removed but I don't know how sticky they will be. Just take a look.
