Review on 🎧 Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro: Superior Over-Ear Studio Headphones for Professionals by Agung Casanova ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The average quality of the product, especially for such money.

The first thing you notice is a certain lack of bass. Sometimes this can be an advantage, but for headphones advertised as "Pro" it is a disadvantage. The second, positive, is the excellent middle of the sound range and tonal neutrality. High frequencies are sometimes not perceived as high or they simply do not exist, so the sound is "dry", but for listening to "sausage" music with raised high frequencies, this is even a plus. Perfect for listening to jazz, vocals, classical because of its decent middle. Good for ASMR (only in a quiet room, so the sound isolation of the headphones is zero), and for audiobooks. The comparison takes place with headphones DT 770 Pro, DT 1770 Pro. Headphone amplifiers and the players they play with: . FiiO X5, FiiO X7 II (Am3a), Red Dot Mk II, iFi iCAN micro SE, ASUS Xonar Essence STX II (with various audiophile software on W10 x64). . . The DT 880 Pro paired well with the iFi iCAN micro SE in small XBass+ mode. This amplifier successfully adds the missing bass to them. They also played well with the Chinese tube Red Dot Mk II, which swings them beautifully and adds good lows and highs. Listening to a variety of Trance music in these headphones is favorable, since no matter how much I looked at the spectrum analyzers, the bass in these recordings is abundant, just what the headphones themselves lack. The involvement in the atmosphere of music is quite tolerable. Sometimes listening to music in these headphones turns on well, and some "drive" is also observed. I gave a rating of "3" as absolute, since there are clearly better headphones.

Pros
  • 1. They sit very comfortably on the head. 2. Lungs. 3. Fine middle of a sound range. 4. Pleasantly soften high frequencies. 5. Bass does not hammer into the ears.
Cons
  • 1. Lack of low bass. Medium bass is flimsy. 2. It feels like high frequencies end in the range of 10-12 kHz. 3. Not very high sensitivity. 4. The stereo panorama could be wider. 5. The development of musical instruments is somewhat "blurred". 6. Musical involvement is not very high. 7. High price.
