As a result, he got stuck on a freeway exit and had to be towed home. Not worth the $10 savings compared to a GRAF made in Italy VW OEM. It's sad because GMB is made in Japan. I expected at least 150,000 miles like with the factory pump. Note. All of these water pumps come with a cheap paper gasket. Always upgrade and buy metal/rubber or use sealant very carefully.
