This backpack is exactly what I was hoping for. I could just carry it with me - no purse or anything needed. I will say I haven't until now - I still had my bag that I used under the seat for my essentials during the flight and the backpack pulled over my head. But that was only because I could. A fully loaded backpack could actually fit under the seat. Love the separate compartments - the perfect place to store my headphones, the front zip pocket works well for my easy access to passports and boarding passes. The open front pocket with zippered flap has zippered compartments for all my "office" essentials - pens, paperclips, lip balm. The two zippered side pockets work well, one for sunglasses and one for an umbrella (although it could easily be a small water bottle). Two separate main compartments - my laptop, Kindle and files in one (great for visitors where I can just unzip the laptop so it lies on its own without having to remove it completely) and a change of clothes or other items in the other. Oh, and the backpack is comfortable enough to carry. As you can imagine, I loaded it up fully - it probably weighed 30-35 pounds - but it was still pretty comfortable. And the MOST IMPORTANT thing for me was that the luggage handle slot is essential - it won't tear and will stay in place on my ski luggage. This is a great purchase for a wonderful carry-on laptop backpack. -when used (and I've tried many different ones).
