I always thought contact lenses were easy to remove but the new drug was causing dry eyes and I'm having problems now, especially with the thinner daily lenses. OptiWand worked very well. This is not a sucker, you have to place it on the contact and then squeeze the cup next to the base to remove the contact. The first few times I tried I didn't hold the cup tight enough and the contact slipped and snapped back into my eye as I tried to pull the wand out. I've found that compressing it almost completely as you pull it back works best for me. While the OptiWand isn't always perfect, it's a lot better than the tweezers that never worked and hurt. I will continue to use it. Also, I asked my optician about a brand of contact lenses that are easier to remove and I think silicone hydrogel lenses are easier to remove and also help to keep the eyes moist. The brand I switched to is made by CooperVision. Finally, it helps to use the drops just before removing them, but make sure they are contact lens-safe. I use the Update Contacts brand.
