I LOVE THIS scratching post! This is a very strong and durable item! I bought a V-High Base walnut. Other fully carpeted scratching posts I've bought in the past may have more options for seating and other cute little houses and the like, but they never last long and loosen and wobble over time and you can't tighten them. You should just throw them away. Others are also very difficult to clean with this carpeting, not to mention how dirty the carpeting looks after being scratched over time. This one isn't as big as other rugs I've bought but my kitties don't seem to care. It's strong, excellent quality and has never had to be tightened since I bought it about a year ago. I like it and it's more like a piece of furniture. Small mats are attached to the seats with Velcro and can be removed for cleaning if necessary. I just vacuumed the carpets and didn't have to wash them. (I think soaking them is better than putting them in the washing machine, mainly because of the velcro.) If the kitten got rid of a hairball, I just wiped it off and wiped with a damp rag. The space may seem a bit small for my older big cats but they still fit in and love it that way. I added a little blanket to make them more comfortable on the open sides so they don't rest on hard edges. They also like seating areas with soft, thick carpets. I even bought one for my daughter's kittens! You will not be disappointed! You will never buy a carpeted cat tree again after buying this cat tree!
