Transmission failed despite durable material

Not sure if you sent the wrong product or confused Thunderbolt 2 with Mini DisplayPort because they both have the same size/shape of connectors? But I couldn't even get my new imac or mb pro to confirm the cable connection let alone transfer files, which would be odd if it was a real Thunderbolt 2 cable.
