My mother is wheelchair bound and has a Roho seat for her wheelchair. So I decided to try this as Hillrom mattresses are too firm even with variable airflow. So in 5 minutes I inflated and connected all three parts and laid them on the bed. She has stage 4 pressure ulcers so I wanted something that could regulate how much or how much air she needed. That helped. Since becoming paralyzed five years ago, she has severely damaged nerves in her lower body and is completely paralyzed from the waist down. We've tried about six different airflow mattresses and none of them have given her any relief from her pain or allowed her to sleep on her back without pain. I filled the sections to the max and laid them on the bed. Then I started the leg part, went up and opened the valve to let the air out until she told me to stop. After all three were perfect, she lay down and fell asleep on her back for almost 10 hours. It was so amazing I can't even tell this company how they changed their lives for the better. I was able to sleep eight hours, which I haven't done in five years. In her other beds, I had to stretch her legs or help her roll over at most every two or three hours because of the pain. It's been almost a month now and every night, just like before, I pump an air pump or two into the section of normal air loss and lay it on the bed. She sleeps at least 8 hours and stays in bed even longer, so I have time to cook her breakfast or do her laundry. No more spending hours or days in a wheelchair because the bed hurt when she was in it. Now she prefers to lie in bed with her legs up, like the doctor wanted. I have also noticed that the pressure sores are actually getting better and her skin is no longer red or irritated. You will never know the harm done to your loved one until they use the wrong mattress. If she had had this bed to begin with I don't think I would have treated a grade 4 pressure ulcer. Thanks to their insurance company and the name of the company that helped me find Roho mattresses, it required a stage four pressure ulcer to get a Roho seat for their chair. Amazing mattresses and an even more amazing life will be my mother now. A must for wheelchair users.
