We bought this for travel so we can listen to music in hotels, on a cruise, at the beach or anywhere. When I'm not traveling it's on my desk at work so I might have some background noise. I think for its size and price it makes a pretty good sound. I just wish you didn't have to unplug one device before plugging in another. If you forget it, it can cause problems if the device is not nearby to unplug!
