You can clearly see that this replacement is much brighter, whiter and wider than the OEM. You can see the original, with the plastic faceplate that has yellowed and worn to the point where it no longer directs the light and scatters most of it. The replacement sent by the OEM is identical except it has a glass finish and you can see that it is less worn and yellowed than plastic. While cleaner, this LED lantern also has a plastic face and will also be worn and yellow like the 1991 original. This flashlight fits my flashlight body very snugly. Not because it was larger, but the top and bottom didn't taper like either original. This meant a tight fit at the top and bottom. Drainage seems typical of headlights, but when the battery dies, this LED doesn't dim, unlike standard bulbs (which are incandescent), it turns off. If you're low on power due to a bad alternator or battery instead of a dim light, you don't have it. This is obviously a function of the chip that controls the light. They have a night focused beam. Unlike many other LED headlights, they have the right lenses and can be positioned correctly to avoid dazzling oncoming vehicles. In my case, they seem to be facing upwards, while the old ones tend to point downwards. Easy enough to set up in those old flashlight cases. Pretty good, except for the plastic front panel. I accidentally bought them and not the glass bottles I wanted. I will use them until they turn yellow, fail, or are too frayed to have sharp rays.
