They were more like dark charcoal and fell off my slim 8/9 year old. There are no strings for customization, so let's save them. The good thing is that they are very unisex so they can be worn by a boy or a girl. They are also quite thin, I didn't find the lining that soft. This is great for the autumn transitional weather before it gets too cold.
