This soap has a very faint but pleasant aroma and is not overpowering at all. It lathers well but costs $14.99. It holds 16.8 ounces of soap (more than regular pump hand soap bottles), but compared to other brands of pump hand soap (even well-known national brands that are also antibacterial but contain a different active ingredient... see below), this one WBM care soap is still significantly more expensive. In fact, four 11-ounce bottles of the famous brand are available here at Revain for $12.05. This soap contains zinc pyrithione (ZPT) as an active ingredient. I've seen some other brands of pump hand soap that contain another antibacterial ingredient, benzalkonium chloride. ZPT has antimicrobial, antibacterial and antifungal properties and has a long and established track record of being generally safe. It's found in many dandruff shampoos and may also be effective in treating psoriasis, eczema, and acne, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The fact is that all antibacterial soaps, regardless of the active ingredient, are usually unnecessary. . Hand soap is designed to wash dirt and germs off your hands. If you wash your hands well with soap, you don't need antibacterial soap—germs go away just as if an antibacterial would destroy them. The reason is that this soap is significantly more expensive than a regular non-antibacterial pump. I suspect the hand soap has something to do with the fact that it contains ZPT, a relatively expensive ingredient. So you can spend money that you do not need. However, ZPT has other benefits, so if you need it for a different purpose (e.g. in addition to dandruff shampoos, some acne cleansers contain ZPT) or just feel better using a soap that is also antibacterial, then the value of the Equation suffice probably change for you.
