But doesn't work automatically (update: doesn't work)

UPDATE 07/15/2020: This doesn't work with my laptop. At first I thought it was, but then I started getting BSODs with BAD_POOL_CALLER. I narrowed the problem down to the point where I plugged it into my USB port. Without it, I can easily video chat with my parents. When I plug it in to use an external microphone, the laptop freezes after about a minute. None of the usual diagnostic tools found anything wrong with my settings, so it would be easier for me to just use my webcam's microphone. I bought it to use with my Lenovo Yoga 910 laptop with built in speakers and microphone. What I want to do is video chat with my parents using an external microphone and built-in speakers. The 910 has a headphone jack and when I plugged an external microphone into it, the speakers muted. I contacted Lenovo Support and this is how it should work; These are built-in speakers and a microphone or headset - there is no hybrid. I bought this adapter to continue using the built in speakers with an external microphone. As soon as I plugged it into my USB port, I lost the sound. You'll need to go into your sound settings and set up all your hardware the way you want it, it won't be automatically configured for you. What I mean is that when you plug in this adapter, it takes over the microphone and speakers. You must change this default behavior if you want to use an existing speaker setup.
