Terrible bleach smell but seems to work

When I first opened the kit I was struck by the incredibly strong smell of bleach. Some of the plastic connector housings were covered in a cloudy white coating and seemed to have the strongest smell. I soaked all the plastic parts in alcohol and then washed them in soapy water just in case. This removed the residue and probably 80% of the smell as well, but it definitely still lingers when you put your face on it. I don't know what it could be, if it's dangerous or what. I will definitely not put them in my mouth. As for the connectors themselves. I have no experience with other JST-SM connectors (genuine or not) so I can't compare them, but these work just fine. leaning back at an odd angle), but I'm assuming it's my poor technique and not something wrong with the stakes. The inserts fit snugly into the cases, although you sometimes have to squeeze them a bit with the tool if it pushes the sides out too much. They dangle a bit in the case, but are not easily removed even if you intentionally try to remove them. The plastic cases appear to be ok apart from an odd residue/odour. No obvious errors found. A small locking mechanism holds the connectors together very securely, maybe too securely - I could experiment by lightly filing the tab so it doesn't take much force to separate. The inserts make a good electrical connection at their ends. their own, the kind they slide through even before the cases snap together, but they have almost no holding power, so you definitely need a latch to hold things together. Tests with my multimeter showed that the inserts had virtually no resistance and I was unable to break continuity by wiggling them as they clicked together. Attached: some photos of a practical connection I made. I'm not claiming to be an expert on this but it seems ok. I used an IWISS IWS-2820M crimping tool, but I know there are other good options.
