I am a longtime Nikon user with a large collection of third party (mainly Tamron) Nikkor and F-mount lenses, vintage and modern. Having recently bought an X-T4, I was surprised (and skeptical) when I heard about the Fringer. My previous experience with adapters was purely manual. Then I watched YouTube Fringer with Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6. This lens was my favorite lens for sports and nature, but I never liked the focus of my Nikon D500. I've gotten a few good shots over the years, but usually through "prayer and spray". The focus setting helped a bit, but it never focused on objects the way I wanted it to. I needed to see if I could reproduce the Fringer results advertised. However, I was still quite skeptical: My hopes for the Fringer were not exactly high. the quantity or just the quality of the fringer, but I was blown away. Tracking the running daughter's face gave the eyes unexpected detail. The same goes for the standing wild animals: the eyes have popped out; Fur and feather details looked much better than the D500. Birds in flight were still a problem. The lens hunted in search of birds against a well-lit sky. But it's hard to blame Fringer for that. I had the same difficulties with the D500. The build quality of the Fringer is outstanding: an all-metal body; skintight; beautiful mechanics. Feels as durable as a Nikon teleconverter. Updating the firmware from version 1.0 to version 1.3 was easy. The studio use with my beloved Tamron 35mm f1.4 caused no problems. Focus was instant. I wouldn't be able to tell it apart from my best Fuji glass like an 80mm f2.8 or 16mm f1.4 macro lens. While I haven't tested the video mode yet, preliminary tests show it works great on fast glass. This adapter will actually save me money. As much as I love the "bottomless" buffer on the D500 (I'm sure I'll miss it), the D500 is on eBay. was replaced by the combination Fringer/X-T4. Not only do I find the tracking is better, but the photos look Fuji-like and stand out from animal shots taken with Nikon and Canon. As long as I keep my Nikon D850, I'm sure the Fuji's autofocus is better. even with fingers. That's high praise. In general, if you hesitate, I say go for it. I think you will be happy. I, of course.
