Review on πŸ”§ Camco Save-A-Step Brace: Stabilize & Protect RV Steps (7-5/8"-14") by Chp Rodgers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Overall a good idea at a reasonable price.

Great part to make our caravan's folding footrests more stable and secure, but I think it has a small design flaw. At the bottom of our folding steps is a metal brace that runs midway across the width of the step. This is a common design and has been on every trailer I have owned. The problem is that the top of the brace is about 1/2 inch larger than it will fit in the space between the edge of the step and the metal support bar, leaving no flat surface under the step to rest on. This makes it difficult to place and hold in place, especially depending on the surface it's sitting on. If the trailer shakes after the footpegs are in place, sometimes the strut will move as well, causing the steps to still move a little when getting in and out. I know the step can't really give way with a support underneath, but I'd prefer it was firmly attached so nothing moves at all. Would have given a solid 5 stars if the top of the strut fitted the bottom of the step better. A decent price for something that reduces tread wear and makes it safer to use (only costs about 2/3 the price of a shorter version of the same item for some reason).
