. A recent scientific study entitled "Brief Report: Virucidal Efficacy of Oral Rinse Components Against SARS-CoV-2 in Vitro" reported that "During a 30-second exposure, two washes with cetylpyridinium chloride and a third wash with ethanol/ethyl lauroyl arginate eliminates live virus per EN14476 standards.” You can easily find this report and related articles online by googling the title. The report describes laboratory studies with several mouthwashes. Subsequently, various health professionals issued the expected warnings regarding the use of mouthwash as treatment or prophylaxis. Take these warnings seriously. However, the negative risk of using commercial mouthwashes containing cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) or ethanol/ethyl lauroyl arginate (LAE) is zero, while the potential benefits are unknown but may be positive. With that in mind, I've researched numerous mouthwashes on Revain. . Most of them do not contain CPC or LAE, and those that do contain LAE tend to be quite expensive. But Colgate Zero includes CPC and is very cheap. So I ordered a bottle and was pleasantly surprised that it tasted great. It's also not astringent like the Listerine I use. I really like it and look forward to using it as my go-to mouthwash for whatever antiviral properties it may have. I have since ordered two more bottles for the rest of my family.
