On my journey to Zero Waste (or at least

On My Journey to Zero Waste (or at least Less Waste) I bought and basically hated a safety razor. Epilator a few months after I got and found one It was too difficult to maintain and time consuming for me.I ordered the cheap $30 model first and I really didn't like the cable and how it limited where I could use the product so I returned it and finally decided to have mine performing what appeared to be the 'best' model available at the time of purchase (May 2018) After trying it on my legs, arms, underarms and even my pubic area (TMI?) I feel pretty much ready "To think twice about it. The first or second time you apply it to any area it hurts like hell, I won't lie about that. Take your time, take a deep breath and stop often. and my legs it's a burning sensation. If you have already done the waxing, you can be careful with it. I'm not sure I would recommend this to anyone who hasn't waxed or anything that involves heavy hair removal. It may take me 30 minutes after the first or second time in the area for the pain to go away completely, but after application it's background irritation, no big deal. As for the sensitive areas, the first time I used it on my armpits it hurt so bad I almost stopped. I pushed through and finished an armpit but it caused severe irritation and some bleeding. I decided not to do another armpit and see how long it takes for the irritation to go away. After a few minutes there was no itching or pain. When I did the second armpit a few days later, I only went over it once without touching every hair to avoid irritation. I came back the next day to finish cleaning the area and it worked so much better with less irritation and no bleeding. As for my bikini line, I saw another reviewer recommend waxing first and then using the epilator for maintenance. Here's what I went for and it worked really well! I think I'll be waxing regularly to care for the inside of my lips and back area but it keeps my bikini line and mound pretty smooth and I do it when I see some hairs popping out so it's not very painful . I definitely wouldn't do a lot of hair in this area at once. Regarding effectiveness: I've been doing this for about a month and have never (yet) gotten to the point where I have smooth skin for any length of time. I've been waxing every few days as other reviewers recommended the first week and then about once a week, but lately I've been reading every 2 weeks so I'm trying to switch up to that. Maybe I repeated this too many times before and didn't see the full growth pattern before epilation. This product doesn't pick up finer hairs well, so you won't get the perfectly smooth skin that shaving gives you. However, by going over the area a few times you can get most of your darker, coarser hair and a fairly sleek effect. I did my arms on a whim (which I've never shaved or depilated before) and it did an AMAZING job on them. The hair has become much thinner in all areas where I have used it so subsequent treatments cause little to no pain as the hair has thinned. Overall, I feel that while my legs aren't as smooth as they were after the shave, the hair is a lot thinner and less visible, so I'm willing to bare it if it's not perfectly straight. For me it's worth not having to think about it every day. As for the attachments, I didn't find them particularly useful or valuable, with the exception of the electric shaver and trimmer. A trimmer is great for pre-waxing the pubic area if you're growing out your hair, and a razor is great if you need a smooth underarm in a pinch. do it on the weekend. I bought an aftershave lotion recommended by others but was upset to find that it was mostly rubbing alcohol so I did some research and used a good moisturizer or other product to reduce irritation after the first few uses. Once your hair follicles are used to it and your growth is sparse, it really isn't a problem. I also like that I don't have to stand in the bathtub to do it. It's too loud for TV in my opinion, as other reviewers have said, and be aware some hairs will fly. Of course everyone's hair growth, skin and pain levels are different so your experience may vary greatly, but this has been my experience.
