My son wanted to use it as soon as I took it out of the box which is great because he hates brushing his teeth. That being said, I think this toothbrush is great for younger kids to help them find a good daily routine. My son would always "done" his teeth in about 10 seconds and I've made him come back several times before he's actually finished getting an idea of how long it actually takes him to brush his teeth (I let him do 2-3 rounds , 2 rounds if I make him brush his teeth afterwards with a regular toothbrush). I definitely still recommend using a regular toothbrush in combination with this if your child has plaque as the bristles are rubbery and I feel like they don't do the job as well as the good old brushes.
