Review on 3M Automotive Headlight πŸš— Lens Restoration Kit, Model 39008 by John Beltran

Revainrating 3 out of 5

3M did a good job, but it's better with them!

This kit did a great job of getting my granddaughter's headlight clean and not dull again and the only downside I found was that I had to wrap it in tape as I had a drill with used her essays to grind when she deviated . The lens has slightly cut the masking tape and scratched the paint around the headlight lens. I used Meguiar's G3000 two-stage headlight recovery system for grinding and polishing, which has a manual grinding head and uses water for wet grinding, and although it required more effort, their system was much easier to control since I didn't use my grinding drill bit and their sanding pads, which used water, weren't as aggressive as dry sanding with the 3M kit. If I use the 3M kit again I will definitely apply more layers of tape to try and protect the car's paintwork. They seem to have specified using 2 layers but I'll probably add 3 or 4 next time. Another note is that with the 3M kit you were lucky enough to clean one set of headlights with it, but with the Meguiar kit I was able to clean 2 sets of headlights and there was quite a bit of polish and protectant solution left in the bottles. 3M only provided a small bag of their cleaning solution (but it was enough to work on two headlights) and you'll have to buy their protective solution if you want to keep it clean for a while. I actually used the Meguiar protection solution after using the 3M kit.
