Nice little camera

Overall a good little camera from Nikon. It is small enough to carry in your pocket or purse. When used correctly, it produces high quality images. The anti-shake feature is good, especially if you're having a hard time holding the camera steady. Battery management is good. It uses two AA batteries. They are available in most places and are not expensive compared to most others. It accepts alkaline, lithium, oxide and rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries. The case is made of plastic. The most fragile parts were the battery cover and memory card covers, the lens extender and the monitor screen. If your monitor screen breaks, Nikon will replace it for +/- $100. Storage is either in the camera's 21MB internal memory or on removable SD cards. Approved cards from SanDisk, Toshiba and Panasonic up to 4 GB. The camera is made in China. No viewfinder. The image composition is done on the monitor screen. There are 20 language options built into the camera. The flash fires up to a maximum distance of 14-26 feet depending on the settings. CD included with editing software for Windows or Macintosh. User manuals are provided in English and Spanish. The lens is a 3x Nikkor, 5.7-17.1mm/f2.8-4.7; (35mm equals 35-105mm); 5 elements in 5 groups. The sensor has 7.1 million effective pixels. There are 6 image sizes available. Shutter speeds from 1/1500 to 4 seconds. The self-timer works for 10 seconds. USB interface. Three areas I could point to as weaknesses are the flash shutter speed, which can be described as a bit slow, the macro photography that appears a bit closer, and the framing on the monitor screen in sunlight. (When laying it out, it is best to protect the screen from direct sunlight.) If you have such a camera, it is better to spend some money on a protective case to protect it. I bought one of those semi-hard zip shells. Well protected so far.
