Never Write Reviews So I Take It Seriously... The Smoke Top is a $50+ piece of wood that relies on the power of a butane torch to produce smoke. You need a flame strong enough to force the smoke into the jar that will inevitably burn the outside. The chimney is not lined with metal (wooden cheese), so it burns instantly - you can feel the smell and taste of burnt needles. There is no lid to keep the smoke in so some of what you get will leak out. There are other similar designs that seem better (metal-lined chimneys, lids, etc.). However, I ended up firing butane gas flames at alcohol glasses through a wood fireplace. I recommend a smoking gun (like the Breville Smoking Gun) with a quality drink infuser cap. You pay more, but you don't taste burning pine (or whatever it is) or risk setting something on fire.
