Ok it'll take a long time sorry but that's the way it's supposed to be. I bought them for the office where I can't really immerse myself in the music and relax. I've used some of the better Sony earbuds, however, but they were ok, they made noise and got the job, sort of. Before I continue, I love my 2 channel sound. My home systems include PS Audio, Parasound Halo, Martin Logan, high-end AKG headphones, Shure IEM, many Audioquest, etc. I speak about this because it's my taste and my recommendations for sound. Now back to the Focal Sphear S. Nicely built, they look great, come with a good choice of ear tips (foam and silicone), the cable feels solid and I like the angle the cable comes out of the plug. But clay. Spring. that will be interesting. They need to be run in (burned), which is what they do. Brand new, they seemed thin somehow. They extend downward but have no weight. What it means is that you hear the note but don't "feel" it. When I tried to spin through 3 other headphones (2 Sony and a cheap one (sounds better than you'd think but I forgot the brand)) I noticed something, the other headphones lacked balance and it was rocking my "normal " or "right". " sound (they don't hit low enough compared to my Shure (which are very balanced) to really consider them IEMs, they don't block the same amount of sound or isolate as completely). After 24 hours the continuous playback at high volume with tone scrolling and another month of daily listening they are open now Improved bass still doesn't weigh much but more correctly they are detailed even too much treble is sharp showing poor recording and equipment (I used/ use Denon USB 300 headphone DAC/amp which sounds smoother) I like them a lot but they didn't grab me initially but once they were taken apart I really started to appreciate what they did right truth (accuracy) isn't always as funny as people might think, most people like a little exaggeration in their audio, their pictures, their videos they are honest almost to the p unket of error but i really i dont like it i can trust them. FYI, foam tips sound best (a better seal is a trick to good bass, as with all IEMs), but silicone tips work pretty well for my use. They really make my everyday life much better, I can enjoy working with such a pleasant sound in my ears. They're fairly close to my Shure, but much more convenient for use at work (Shure blocks too much sound to work, needs time to seal when removed) and I don't have to give up much, if anything, a Focal could be more permissive. I became a fan
