This has a "lock" feature that locks the final weight for you to take a look at. The big advantage for me was the use of conventional AA batteries. Our old one had tiny button batteries that were expensive, hard to find, and genuine. it hurts to change. Not as small and compact as the old one, but I'm willing to trade it in for the ease of use any day.
