I've had them for about a week now and love them. I don't want to use flash, but I need to illuminate the subject in daylight as well. The ability to brightness and light temperature is an absolute must. We used them together with small RGB cubes and this combination is a really great combination for capturing dark scenes. The picture of the young man was taken with my camera with these lights. Haven't installed the backlight yet. The brightness on these is good for practical use when controlling your light in a controlled environment. They should be sufficient for most small projects. The app is good, but not outstanding. While the master/slave setup is decent, we're a bit too picky about the color/brightness ratio - I think we'll stick with manual lighting control. A real remote control would have been better although I haven't played with the app too much as I have other things that can use iPad and phone. It's just easier when one of my assistants adjusts the lights. We also have 5 Yongnuo lights and while I like them, the exotic power supply combined with the noisy fans make using them a huge PITA for video projects where I want to record sound (we'll probably get 2-3 more GVM lights need to fully achieve this (replace another set) so it's just great. No loud fans! The carrying case is a HUGE asset for our mobile projects, especially since we overdid it with our big lights. I like the included bracket. You can mount the lights vertically (which is intuitive) or perpendicular to the ground, allowing for significantly more shading movement. While the included lighting stands are good enough for beginners, we mount ours on good heavy duty C-type stands. as they are used outdoors, at night and in a wide variety of situations. So if you're standing on a 14-foot C-pillar, having that kind of versatility is absolutely a HUGE plus. The other lights we had were NOT GVM which did us a huge favor with that. It's nice to have smaller stands, however, and beginners will find exceptional value in having everything they need (other than batteries) for any mobile project. This is normal with RGB LED lights - even high quality lights. PROS: + Fully controllable color temperature + RGB + Brightness + Controllable via app, with main light or manually. + Bright enough for most projects. + No loud fans. Power supplies and mounting brackets included (EFF you Yon gnuo) + carrying case, light stands (indoor use only) and lights are lightweight and easy to carry for most projects. + The mounting bracket offers more versatile 270-degree vertical movement and 360-degree rotation when mounted sideways. + Some lighting effects are useless, but Halloween + uselessness can be fun. :) + Color accuracy is good, but you can use different colors with different brands of lamps that work with it. Make sure you test both colors before shooting. + Panels are very light. (Easier than Yongnuos. EFF you, Yongnuo) Cons - The app might be shaky, but my phone/iPad might not work well. - Light stands are suitable for indoor use. For outdoor use you either need to invest in the best light stands or WEIGHT them. All in all, I highly recommend it for photo or video work. Please note: The images of the woman and the hand were obtained from me when testing for creative projects.
