Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens, black by Michal Wjcik ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best thing for the money, I'm glad I chose this option.

This glass is a must have for every aspiring photographer. I took it from a friend to use it, even on a crop, and bought it that way. An excellent lens, for a ridiculous price you get awesome picture sharpness, good image plasticity, and excellent aperture ratio. You understand the advantages of aperture ratio when others have turned on their flashes for a long time or have stopped shooting altogether, and you are shooting. Natural lighting is the best, especially at dusk. Now I use it on 5DM2 on FF, the glass shows itself even better and the angle has become more versatile - both portrait and subject. I had experience shooting at 24-105 4L, 70-200 2.8L, 17-40 4L - in terms of sharpness, fifty dollars is much better than the first and third, and no worse than the second, and maybe even better. So when buying a lens, it is not always worth looking at more expensive ones. Pros
  • Excellent sharpness, Pleasant bokeh, aperture ratio, light weight, ridiculous price, quiet and accurate focusing, compactness, well conveys body geometry in portraits
Cons
  • somewhat soft on the open, although this may be a feature of my copy. The part that extends during focusing has some backlash - but this does not affect the quality at all.
