Review on πŸ“Έ SMALLRIG Camera Cage with Silicone Handgrip & Cold Shoe Mount for Sony a6100, a6300, a6400 - 3164 by Steve Beaumont

Stabilizer bars are almost perfect

This makes the a6400 feel much better in the hand, but there are a few issues that make this camber a little less than ideal. To live up to your expectations, I'm not a videographer. I don't use cold shoes or anything other than a small grip, which works great if you loosen it just enough for your hand to reach the bolt. The main problem I want to solve is related to some details of the pen itself. There are two holes on the front: one at the bottom for a screw that holds the handle in place (why couldn't it be mounted on the bottom?) and one to prevent the handle from blocking the IR remote ( what I suspect). control sensor. These two holes have somewhat sharp edges and are somewhat uncomfortable for long-term use. Also, the fact that the top of the handle isn't held in place by a screw makes me have concerns about durability. Finally, the screw that holds the handle isn't the same size as the one that holds the camera with the strap buckle, so the tool that attaches the camera to the cage doesn't help when you get the handle in place have to adjust . Another problem is that the grip puts your fingers closer to the lens, and if you have thicker fingers and a fast lens, there won't be enough room and your ergonomics will be compromised. My normal fingers get stuck on the Sigma Art 28-70 f2.8. Depending on your personal preferences for ergonomics and how you use your camera, this might not be an issue for you. This is a reliable product and I recommend it to almost everyone.

Pros
  • MULTIPLE MOUNTING POINTS
Cons
  • Everything is fine
