I bought these bags from stock. I use these bags in my workshop for a small number of hardware items - nuts, bolts, washers, screws, etc. While I can't tell if these bags are 4 mil, I can say they are significantly thicker than a fastener .Zipper of well-known brand. sandwich bag. They are the same thickness as a 4 liter ziplock freezer bag. I have no problems opening or closing packages as some reviewers have described. Just to be clear, I have VERY big hands so you'd think if there was a problem I'd run into it. I was also impressed with the packaging - I bought a pack of 500 sachets. They came in five packs of 100 ziplock bags, clearly marked "100 Bags - 3x5 4Mil". This came in handy as I also ordered several 4"x4" bags from the same company (I was equally impressed with them and wrote a similar review). The pockets measure 3" x 5" in the usable portion of the pocket (excluding the zipper). You can fit a 3" x 5" index card in the pocket, but that gets tricky and you can't fit more than a few cards in before the pocket is full.
