They come in two boxes so you can give one as a gift if you want. The scent is divine even before you open the first box! Each disc is individually wrapped inside. They are a bit difficult to open; I needed a utility knife. I can't imagine opening it in the shower with wet hands! EDIT: There is a pointed plastic opening tool at the bottom of the box that works like a charm! I wish I had known beforehand that he was there! The smell is wonderful so I couldn't wait for the fragrant vapor to envelop me! But no. The water was hot and there was steam. The disk began to disintegrate when water hit it. But that's all. It just dissolved and flowed down the drain. This continued throughout the shower (which was on the long side), but instead of filling the area with even more lavender smell, it kind of subsided. Almost diluted. I've never used anything like this, so maybe this is normal? But I was disappointed. On the other hand, last night I put two discs (still wrapped) next to the sink and twelve hours later the scent is still wafting into the next bedroom. Much better than any plug in air freshener I've tried. It also looks great in a lingerie drawer. Putting them in the shower almost seems wasteful, but I'll keep experimenting. I will update the review if I find there is a secret. UPDATE: Better luck with them now. I may have been a bit blind beforehand as the entire main suite was enveloped in its scent for days after first opening. Now that they're tucked away in the linen closet, I can smell them as soon as I unwrap them and put them in the shower - and the scent lasts for a few minutes, which is why I've upgraded it from 3 to 4 stars.
