These are such cute dresses. I was very happy with her looks. They are definitely meant for an average sized girl. I would not recommend this type of maxi dress for a little girl. My daughter usually wears 10/12 jeans. I ordered this size. My daughter shifts her weight to her hips (athlete's thighs?) and buttocks. I think just because the size of the hips/butt doesn't matter in a dress like this, I think a smaller size would be better. I'll wear her when she's a little older.
