I used a Schumacher drink warmer to heat water to make tea on a long trip. Water boils in 20 minutes. The base of the heater fits snugly in a cup holder, and the cord is long enough to reach a Honda Odyssey 12-volt plug that's near the bottom. I have never used a mount, coffee filter or mug. The lid has a steam outlet. Hold the handle carefully as the open lid is facing down. Therefore, do not pour water too high, otherwise it may spill out when the car hits a bump. If the lid serves as a sprout, then this is ideal. I have owned this drink warmer for over two years and it still works great. However, I've used less than 20 times and never used it consistently. I don't plan on using it directly to heat soup or make coffee.
