This is VERY handy! They have their own battery that can be charged via a USB cable. They don't include a USB charger, but have a low enough amperage to use with anyone. They're pretty bright considering there are only 6 LEDs in each device. A few of them are enough to illuminate a small room. They have a magnetic mount and contain multiple metal plates with adhesive so you can stick them anywhere and quickly/easily remove them when you need to charge them. There are two modes of operation. You can either set them to detect motion by turning them on about 15 seconds after motion detection stops, or set them to be controlled with the remote control (included). You must select one of these modes, you cannot set both modes. The remote works well but you must be within 6ft and point the remote directly at the light source. If you don't have line of sight the remote won't work, so I'm assuming it works via infrared. I will use it with the camping remote but I can install one in each bathroom on the landing. and maybe on the floor under the nightstand next to my bed to turn on in the middle of the night when they sense movement. For equipment and price they are definitely worth 5 stars! I even got them at a discount because they are "returnable", which makes me particularly happy!
