I bought these boots after a big snow storm in New York. I'm tired of slipping on snow and ice with hiking boots. Despite having a grooved sole, there was no traction with the rubber on ice or snow. I ordered these puppies and they match my shoes perfectly. I wear size 12 and the size fits me. The large size is designed to fit a variety of sizes. So if I were wearing the smaller size 10 as such I could see that those cleats don't wrap the sole of the shoe either. They are lightweight and work like a charm. The spools have a paperclip feel and unwind fairly easily, but if you want something more serious they're not as good. For city life and walks after a snowfall or in the ice - excellent. Be careful when entering the house or you will slip on slippery surfaces!
